So OCD? Us too!
So OCD is a resource for anyone to learn more about OCD—what it is, and how to get help to manage it.

Our story

So OCD was created by two friends who both live with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Prior to receiving a diagnosis, we both struggled to understand the patterns of our thoughts, and felt so distressed by them.

So, what is OCD?

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a condition where a person experiences recurrent and unwanted thoughts and mental and/or behavioural compulsions. The unwanted thoughts (the obsessions) are commonly referred to as intrusive thoughts, which come into the mind and decide to stay, causing much distress and discomfort to the person thinking them.

So, what can help?

A combination of therapy and medication is generally the most effective option for people with most kinds of OCD.

We'd like to acknowledge

So OCD wholeheartedly acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Australia, their Elders past, present and emerging, and recognises these community members as the rightful owners of the land and waters we live on.

So OCD recognises the intergenerational trauma that Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people have endured through the many wrong-doings of non-indigenous people and acknowledges the impact this has had on the emotional and spiritual well-being of these communities. We vow to speak out to improve the lives of the traditional custodians, those who are suffering the most on land which is their own.

So OCD acknowledges and celebrates diversity and we aim to make this an inclusive space for all.
